Flat Deck Hauling

Straightforward. Versatile. Built to Work.

There’s a reason the standard flat deck is the workhorse of our fleet.

With open access from either side, the rear or overhead, flat decks make loading and unloading straightforward — especially when your freight needs to come off with a forklift, crane or boom truck.

From construction materials and steel to equipment and oversized loads, Phil’s Transport Ltd. provides dependable flat deck hauling throughout Manitoba, Western Canada and beyond.

Versatility That Keeps Freight Moving

Not every load belongs inside a van.

Flat deck hauling gives you the flexibility to move freight that’s too large, too long or simply better suited to open-deck transportation. With no walls or roof getting in the way, freight can be loaded from virtually any direction and secured specifically for the trip ahead.

Our flat decks are well suited for:

  • Steel and structural materials

  • Lumber and building supplies

  • Pipe and long materials

  • Palletized construction materials

  • Crated machinery and equipment

  • Industrial components

  • Agricultural equipment and supplies

  • Freight requiring crane or boom-truck unloading

  • Loads that can travel safely under a tarp

If it can be safely loaded, secured and transported on a flat deck, we can help determine the right way to move it.

Load It From Any Side

More Access. Fewer Complications.

One of the biggest advantages of a flat deck is simple: access.

Forklifts can approach from either side. Cranes can lift freight directly from above. Boom trucks can reach loads without having to work around the walls and roof of an enclosed trailer.

That flexibility can make a major difference on construction sites, farms, industrial yards and other locations where loading docks aren't an option.

It also makes flat decks an excellent choice for freight with unusual dimensions or specific loading and unloading requirements.

Tarped When the Load Calls for It

Open deck doesn't have to mean exposed freight.

When the cargo requires additional protection from the elements, loads can be properly tarped and secured for the road ahead. It's a practical solution for materials and equipment that don't require an enclosed trailer but still need protection from weather, road spray and debris.

Our team understands that proper tarping is part of doing the job right — not an afterthought.

Experienced Drivers. Properly Secured Loads.

Open-Deck Experience Matters.

Anyone can pull a trailer down the highway. Not everyone knows how to properly secure an open-deck load.

Every driver we put on a deck has real open-deck experience. From weight distribution and securement to tarping and load checks, our drivers understand the responsibility that comes with hauling exposed freight.

Different loads require different securement strategies. Steel doesn't secure the same way as lumber. Machinery isn't treated like palletized freight. Knowing the difference comes from experience.

At Phil’s Transport, that experience goes with every load.
